Campaign round-up
Over two years ago, United Response, Dimensions and Mencap joined up with the ambition of making the 2024 general election the most accessible one yet.
That election which always felt so long away, now feels so long ago. Before we all get caught up in our campaign efforts with the new government, we wanted to take a moment to look back at all we achieved.
At a glance:
- With help from our campaign, 4512 voters registered to vote.
- 190 organisations joined the My Vote My Voice coalition, with a potential reach of 200,000+
- 23 MPs signed up as Accessible Voting Champions
- We visited Downing Street with our petition
- 30 councils signed-up to the campaign
- We got our message out. Television presenter Chris Packham created two Instagram Reels for us, which had over 200,000 impressions. Our own ‘get out the vote’ video had 96,000 views. We were also featured on BBC News, Channel 4 and others.
- We hosted voter registration parties, leading to lots of new registrations.
Ali Gunn, Campaign Chair and Interim Director of Communications and Marketing for United Response, said:
“Our voting campaign demonstrates what a difference we can make when we all come together. There are so many memories to share, from handing a petition into Downing Street, to launching our campaign with MPs in Parliament and filming our campaign video.
“At My Vote My Voice, we have always said that we can’t have democracy without accessible voting. I hope that, as a result of our campaign, society has become that little bit more democratic.”
We are working together to decide what’s next for My Vote My Voice, but for now, we just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters. Without you, we never could have made such a difference.
